Worlds Ten Best Mixed Martial Arts Heavyweight Fighters
Feb 27th
There’s no better way to stick your neck out that coming up with a top 10 “anything” list. It just gets worse when you talk about combat sports like boxing, kickboxing or mixed martial arts. However, here it is, my top 10 list of heavyweight MMA fighters on the planet.
I need to tell you that when I decided to write down my top 10 list, I didn’t think it would take too long. I believed that I could easily pick 10 fighters that were heads and shoulders above the pack. It wasn’t that easy. I’m sure that there will be a lot of people who disagree with my picks, but isn’t that the point, to start a discussion of who’s the best and who is just there for a paycheck?
The 10th best heavyweight MMA fighter in the world.
This was the toughest position to choose, really there could be 4 or 5 guys tied for this position, but I needed to choose one and it was Mark “The Hammer” Coleman. Mark Coleman was one of MMA’s pioneers, he established ground and pound as a valid MMA skill. In fact, Mark is still one of the most intense fighters in the game. Unfortunately his submission skills (both offensive and defensive) have not improved enough to be competitive with the top fighters in the world.
The 9th best heavyweight MMA fighter in the world
Rashad Evans is my pick for fighter number 9. Rashad is still relatively new to the fight game and his natural athletic ability is as good as it gets. With time Rashad will move much closer to the head of the pack, but for now, congratulations Rashad on your success and making it to the list!
The 8th best heavyweight MMA fighter in the world
Brandon “The Truth” Vera is certainly one of the most exciting heavyweight fighters in the UFC right now and I was tempted to put him in the top 5. However, he needs to beat a more substantial fighter than Frank Mir. While I have the utmost respect for Frank Mir, it’s apparent to me that he’s not the same fighter that he was before his accident. I believe that Brandon will be top 5 on next years list. He’s one quality win away from that (in my eyes).
The 7th best heavyweight MMA fighter in the world
Tim Silvia is the UFC’s heavyweight champion. Why is he only ranked #7, the only explanation I have is that I’ve never personally met anyone who likes to watch Tim Silvia fight. He keeps on winning, but I’m never impressed with his performances. Sorry Tim, that’s the way it is, you sit at number seven and if you don’t start winning fights in a more crowd pleasing manner, I’m afraid you’ll drop off the top 10 entirely.
The 6th best heavyweight MMA fighter in the world
It might surprise you that I put former K-1 fighter Mark Hunt in the top 10. It should surprise you that I put him above Tim Silvia, but I have my reasons. Last year Mark Hunt beat Mirko Cro Cop (by a very close decision) and he also held strong with Fedor Emelianenko, even on the ground, in the most recent Pride event.
The 5th best heavyweight MMA fighter in the world
Josh Barnett is my pick for the 5th best MMA heavyweight fighter in the world. Josh says his style is “pro wrestling”, but don’t mistake his performances as fake. Barnett combines general toughness and strength with much improved stand up and a stellar ground game. His fights are always exciting and often bloody. Josh is a former UFC heavyweight champion with victories over the likes of Randy Couture.
The 4th best heavyweight MMA fighter in the world
A year ago I would have put Andrei Arlovski in the top 3, maybe even top 2, but his losses to Tim Silvia have me wondering. I don’t question Andrei’s skills, he’s an excellent stand up fighter with a strong ground game, I do question whether he is afraid of getting hit after loosing to Tim Silvia’s by knockout. By the way, that is a fight he should have won, in my opinion Silvia got lucky (but he seems to do that a lot). I’m looking forward to seeing what 2007 has in store for Andrei.
The 3rd best heavyweight MMA fighter in the world
Who in their right mind would argue that Mirko Cro Cop belongs in the top 3 heavyweight fighters in the world? Now that Mirko has joined the UFC it’s clear that Tim Silvia’s days as champion are numbered. Mirko will hold the UFC heavyweight title in 2007, I’d put money on that one. Mirko’s strength is most certainly his striking, including the best high kicks in the business. Victim’s of Cro Cop’s left high kick is a list of MMA royalty. . . I wonder if he can get that kick 6 foot 7 (Tim Silvia’s height).

What comes into mind when you here the term “Heavyweight?” Normally, the first thing that would come to you would be a weight division in boxing. 3 Tips to Burn Fat and Build Abs Fast
Feb 27th
Who wouldnât want to build abs fast? Seriously. I donât think Iâve ever met someone who desired to take things slow as far as getting no nonsense 6-pack abdominal muscles go. We all want to get results FAST, and thatâs a fact. Iâll tell you right now, there are no magical formulas for it, but getting ripped abs fast IS very doable. All you need to remember are these 3 clear-cut facts:1. Burn Fat Fast with a Fast Metabolism. Train your body hard to increase your metabolic rate. A fast metabolism can provide the push your body needs to burn more fat. The first step to increasing your metabolism compels you to assess the way you eat. A low-fat diet is the first thing you should take on to build abs fast. Getting rid of unhealthy fats and starchy foods will make it easier for your body to put your metabolism in high gear. Minimize your intake of foods like white rice, pastries, sweets, white bread, and soda because they contain really high amounts of simple sugars and starch. Always go over the nutrition label of food packages and learn how to tell which ingredients are good or bad for you. Even the slightest change in your diet can help you a great deal. 2. Burn Fat Fast with Body Heat. Maintaining a moderately high body temperature during your workout is ideal. Your body stores fat for many reasons, particularly for the insulation of heat. Getting rid of EXCESS fat, however, is absolutely necessary. Using the properties of heat can help build abs fast. You can do any of the following to ensure that your body is getting the most out of your workout: * Put on insulated clothing on top of your usual workout clothes. * Use abdominal wraps to keep your midsection warm and tight. * Use other body wraps (e. g. thighs) to maximize your workout. Remember to drink water before and after your workout because that will keep you hydrated. 3. Burn Fat Fast with Cardiovascular Workouts. Cardiovascular exercises not only boost your metabolic rate, but they also get rid of fat rapidly. Cardio exercises provide you with a complete body workout. Covering all your muscle groups in your workout makes it easier for your body to burn excess fat. You may not be aware of it, but a lot of your daily activities already involve some cardio. Walking, for example, is an excellent cardio workout. Walking to work, going up a flight of stairs, and even grocery shopping are very habit-forming and can easily be considered good cardio practices. Combined with targeted abs exercises, full cardio workouts can certainly up your game and build abs fast. Here are some examples of more intense cardio workouts: * Running * Rowing * Swimming * Cycling * BoxingExercising shouldnât be deemed as a problem; rather, it is the SOLUTION to all your fat-loss woes. Stick to a healthy diet, hike up the heat a notch during workouts, and make sure you follow a regular exercise program. Do that and you will definitely build six pack abs fast.
Top Ways To Fitness Strength Training
Feb 27th
Ever wondered how the toughest men alive really build massive strength fast as a hungry cheetah? They all know the same fitness strength training secret – build real core strength and fitness strength training at peak performance. Combining both is a fitness workout that gets real results. It’s an awesome fitness strength training method to build your core fast and develop solid brute-force strength. So what is this exercise I speak of?
We call it the woodchoppers exercise! Haha pretty funny. I like the name because really, this fitness workout will get you strong like a 19th century axe woodchopper. I wouldn’t be the least surprised if it was the fitness strength training method of that era.
Here’s what you need: A medicine ball and an exercise ball. The exercise ball isn’t mandatory. . . But I recommend it for building stability. You can also use it for various abdominal fitness workouts.
A medicine ball is a common tool used by professional MMA & boxing athletes for developing brute-force strength. Here’s how the fitness workout for “woodchoppers” strength works:
1. Sit on your exercise ball with your feet at a 90 degree angle to the floor.
2. Hold the medicine ball to your side with both hands (it should be square to your waist)
3. Raise the ball upwards toward the sky on the opposite side of your body.
4. Bring the ball back down to your waist (to the starting position).
For this fitness workout, do 10 reps in 4 sets. And remember. . . always change your fitness workout up. After 4 weeks, try doing 1 set of 50 for 2 weeks, then go to 3 sets of 15, etc. After doing this exercise for 12 weeks, many people I’ve worked with have walked out with a completely new body that’s ripped and strong. This fitness strength training exercise truly does wonders.
But word of caution: If you’re doing this fitness workout at the gym. . . be sure not to whip the ball towards the sky too fast. Develop a good grip first. When you get comfortable then go faster. I’m telling you this because one of my most embarrassing moments in life was at the gym. I was doing the woodchoppers fitness strength training workout for the first time. . .
I quickly raised the medicine ball as high as I could toward the other side of my body. . . But when I looked up. . . The medicine ball wasn’t in my hand! It was hurling its way through the air where people workout their abs. The worst landing spot on the entire planet! So this medicine ball landed 2 inches away from the face of a gorgeous woman at Gold’s Gym! She was lying down on a mat doing her abs and didn’t notice this 12-pound thing flying through the air towards her. It landed so close to her face she screamed at 90 decibals! The fitness trainers and other Gold’s Gym staff rushed over towards her.
I painstakingly apologized (it was really sheer embarassment). One fitness trainer tried to sell me his training services as if I was a newbie to fitness workouts. Every man and woman at the gym stared at me. And people were watching me like hawks for months after this happened. . . Everytime I did the woodchopper fitness strength training workout.
So take it slow when you’re starting this exercise. Practice makes perfect. You’ll get so good at it, you won’t need to worry about repeating this embarrassing moment I had. After a couple weeks, take this fitness strength training workout high intensity. For me, it got me strong like an oxen in 3 weeks.

Female boxing in the 2012 olympics: What are your views?
Feb 27th
It has been announced yesterday that female boxing will be included in the 2012 olympics programme and i for one, am pleased with this. It has been an uphill struggle for budding young female boxers to earn respect for what they do because of their gender, where contrastly male boxers don’t even provoke a raised eyebrow when they want to get into the sport. .
Boxer Amir Khan has stated on afew occasions that he doesn’t think women should fight because it seemed, to him anyway, a ‘cruel thing to do’. I am of the opinion that when a girl wants to box she knows of the dangers and the rewards and therefore they don’t go into the sport with their eyes closed. Therefore i think it is pretty condescending to say it is ‘unfair’ or cruel to put women in a ring to box, if those ladies are there because its a passion of theirs.
Whenever a female enters into a male dominated sport they face problems.
I feel the women want peoples respect and not sympathy so the way no one feels sorry for a male boxer when they are in a fight and losing i feel the girls too want people to respect them and watch them regardless whether they win or lose. There will no doubt be people who think it is disturbing to watch two girls knock seven bells out of each other, hence why it has taken so long for female boxing to seriously take off but the fact it has now made it to the olympic stage should lead more people, the nay sayers in the past, to ultimately support the ladies more.
In an age which often talks about there being ‘less sex discrimination’ than in the past, this is a positive step forward i think.
What are your views on the inclusion of female boxing to the 2012 olympics? Do you support it or oppose it and why?
Cheers in advance!!
