Punch bag question?
I have ordered a free standing punch bag. I know the base has to be filled with either sand or water. On the product, it says the company reccommends filling it with sand. What is the difference? wont water do the same thing?

Do what the company recommends. Sand is small granules, perhaps it helps in the balance when the bag is punched (better than water would)

water will shift around when you hit it but sand will stay in one place better…the bag wont become unbalanced and move alot

Water will move more as it splashes around in the container as you punch the bag.
If you kick it for example you might do it with so much force that a mini wave will form in the containers thus pushing the punch bag frame in any given direction. I doubt its much of an issue though

sand is definately more stable….the water molecules are more likely to move about and make it less stable….the sand granules’ movements are more restricted by friction than you think

they suggest sand because if it should leak the water will can create a bigger mess. also water will damage the inside faster than sand.

No water wont do the same and there will be mor chance that you Punching Bag will get distoroted within a month.Other then this you are using punching bag for getting Accuracy and power making your Fist more stronger so water can only give you accuracy but Less Power and it wont make your fist stronger……
For me , i was using the cemet dust in the bag and that was more comfortable then the send , letter i mixed send with cement dust.
20% send and 80% cement dust
40%send and 60% cement dust
60% send and 40% cement dust
80% send and 20% cement dust
lastly 100 % send…..
There are more mix you can have according to the material strength…
Thanks
