Michael Russell Of Marshfield Named “youth Of The Year” -Russell Honored At The Boys & Girls Club Gala

Marshfield, MA … P> Russell was honored with the “Youth of the Year and presented with a scholarship during the Boys and Girls Club annual gala held last week at the Club ‘Indian Country Pond, Kingston, MA. P> p> Russell, who attended the Boys and Girls Club after school when he was young, now works at the club and volunteers for special events such as The Polar Express and annual Haunted House. Russell is very involved in several programs of the club, especially with the program “Triple Play”, which helps the club members get the exercise they need for good health, sports play and learn the value of good sportsmanship. As a short stop to MHS Varsity baseball team and a donor online MHS Varsity Football, Russell provides the skills he learned from his coaches for children at the Boys and Girls Club. P> p> There is an active member of the Keystone Club, which focuses on leadership development and service to the club and the community and the program Money Matters. Russell also assists members who are struggling with academics to do their homework. P> p> “Michael is truly an amazing young person who truly cares about the club members. Because he is a former member who grew up attending our programs, Michael is better able to relate to children because he has a good understanding of the challenges they face in school, sports and socially. He has great leadership ability and with whom they can identify and turn. We are pleased to honor Michael as “Youth of the Year”, because it is well deserved. We wish him every success in the future, “said Kathleen Newcomb, director of programs and operations. P> p> Russell plans to attend college after graduation and is considering majoring in criminal justice, but has not yet decided on a school. The Boys and Girls Club of Marshfield has five core areas: character and leadership, education and career, Health, Sport Fitness Recreation and Life Skills, arts and technology.
