Concerned about getting shin splints from jumping rope on solid concrete in my backyard, I use this boxing mat as a mobile “cushion”, taking it outdoors when I’m ready for jumping. I’ve heard that four of these mats fitted together is ideal for jumprope, but since I can’t keep it outdoors 24/7, I use only one. To solve the problem of having my rope snag on the puzzle edge, I simply jump on the diagonal. The only jumping trick where even jumping on the diagonal doesn’t allow for enough room is the criss-cross, so this is the only trick I do on concrete. Seeing as I jumprope for 25 minutes on the mat and 3-5 minutes on concrete, this isn’t bad at all. The mat is light, rugged, and very portable.
