Tutorial on Wrapping Hands for a Boxing Workout
Just a brief demostration on how I like to wrap my hands before a boxing workout. I use the handwrap gauze, which is reusable, from Ringside or TitleBoxing. I use 2 rolls per hand and wrap them similar to how a hand would be wrapped for a professional boxing match. A roll of handwrap gauze is 120″ while a roll of standard gauze used to wrap hands for a boxing match is 10 yards long (360″).

120″. and probably a mexican wrap would be best for you.. the diffirence between a mexican wrap and a normal wrap is that mexican wraps have elastic in them, so they are much more springy and stay to your hand.
The downside is that they wear out quite a bit quicker than normall cloth ones.

If you go to Ringside or Title Boxing, they have different sizes of wraps. If you are purchasing a set of wraps and you have smaller hands, you might want to buy the Junior Size wraps. Normal size wraps are about 180 inches while the Junior Wraps are about 108-120 inches. The gauze wraps that I use in this video only come in one size.

I’ve seen the different kinds of knuckle pads sold in the catalogs. I tried one back in the day but I didn’t really like it. What I do now is get the Mexican handwrap gauze which is reusable. I layer one for a knucklepad and just keep it like that. The other roll I use to wrap around my wrist and hand. When the workout is done, I take out the gauze knucklepad and wrap up the other roll. Takes really no time and is very convenient. When I find something I like, believe me I stick with it.

Right. For training, I just use the gauze between the fingers. For a fight, I would use the strips of tape between them.

ya i saw another vid where the trainer tapped in between the fingers, but thats just for a fight right? you dont have to use that for training since your using the gauze to wrap in between the fingers right?

Thanks man. Glad you liked it. The one thing I forgot to mention is that when getting your hands wrapped for a professional fight, the trainer will use thin strips of tape 6-8″ long between the fingers. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

You can purchase that through Title Boxing or Ringside (see their websites). It’s called Authentic Mexican Handwrap Gauze. 1 pair for $1.99 or 5 pair for $8.99. I really like the stuff and it is reusable.
